The Chongqing Shariea Law Firm was established by the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in December 1984. It is one of the oldestlaw firms in Chongqing, with a profound historical and cultural heritage.

The Chongqing Shariea Law Firm is headquartered in Jiangbei District, Chongqing Municipality. There are more than 200 practising lawyers in the head office and its branches, over half of whom hold senior professional titles or advanced degrees such as doctorates and master’s degrees, with expertise in various legal fields.

Chongqing Shariea Law Firm is a first-level institution manager for enterprise bankruptcy cases in Chongqing and Hainan Province. It is also a Teaching and Research Practice Base at Southwest University of Political Science and Law.It has won honours including Outstanding Law Firm in Chongqing Municipality and Best Overall Law Firms (Chongqing) by the China Business Law Journal.

In recent years, Chongqing Shariea Law Firm has provided high-quality legal services to the Chongqing Municipal Government and its administrative committees, including those of Liangjiang New Area, High-tech Zone, Shapingba District, Beibei District, Bishan District, Rongchang District and Qijiang District. It has also served various municipal bureaus such as Public Security, Justice, Civil Affairs, and Science and Technology, as well as major enterprises and institutions including China Railway Group, Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Group, Chongqing Expressway Group Corporation, Bank of Chongqing, Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, China CITIC Bank, Southwest Securities, Chongqing University and Southwest University. The firm has successfully handled numerous complex litigation, non-litigation and arbitration cases with significant social impact. These include reviewing more than 10,000 administrative power and public service lists for Chongqing municipal departments, handling RMB1 billion (USD140 millon) international arbitration case involving Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Group and an American company over the MDI integrated investment project, and managing the bankruptcy reorganisation of Chongqing Lifan Group, involving more than RMB50 billion in assets and liabilities. Some of these cases have been selected by the Supreme People’s Court as national model cases.

Lawyers of Chongqing Shariea Law Firm have also participated in the drafting, argumentation and review of some laws and regulations, especially the Civil Code and local rules in Chongqing.They have completed multiple national and municipal research projects, published numerous academic works and papers, and served as observers at Chongqing Municipal Government executive meetings for years, offering advisory opinions on major government decisions.
