AFFA Intellectual Property Rights – Indonesia & Timor Leste was established in July 1999 by experienced IP professionals, led by the late Achmad Fatchy, who believed that the firm’s total concentration in one field of practice would ensure the quality of the services it offers to its clients. The firm’s current leaders Emirsyah Dinar and Fariz Syah Alam remain committed to this approach, which results in the team’s technical expertise and vast experience in serving clients’ requirements across national and international markets. Additionally, AFFA has strong international relations in almost any country in the world, enabling it to provide assistance with the protection of its local clients’ intellectual property abroad and that of foreign clients in Indonesia. Members of AFFA are associated professionally with INTA, the European Communities Trademark Association, the Intellectual Property Association of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Licensing Executives Society.

In addition to IP matters, AFFA provides services related to general commercial law matters, registration with the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority, limited liability company establishment (local or foreign-owned), domain name registration, creation and review of licence and franchise agreements, and IP investigations.

With more than 60 experts in Indonesia and Timor Leste, we can provide IP protection for your business. Our experts come from a variety of backgrounds, including law, economics, information technology, biology, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and pharmaceuticals. Our team members are based in Jakarta, Bandung, Bali and Dili (Timor Leste).

Our clients: Our clients range from local and foreign government agencies, globally acclaimed companies and startups to non-for-profit organisations, educational institutions, foreign associates/law firms, entrepreneurs and innovators. Our clients also vary from one-man entities to companies with branches in almost every country in the world. Around 98% of our clients are non-Indonesian individuals or entities. This share has remained the same since 1999.
