Addleshaw Goddard is continuing to reinforce its presence in Singapore with the recruitment of Danna Er as a partner, who has a strong focus on construction, commercial disputes and South Korea-related matters.

“Our brand has always been well-known in Korea and Danna has an existing and strong client base there. Danna’s joining strengthens this offering and provides our Korean clients with a specialist energy and infrastructure arbitration team in the same region and time zone,” Chanaka Kumarasinghe, head of the Singapore office at Addleshaw Goddard, told Asia Business Law Journal.

Er joins Addleshaw Goddard from Singapore construction law firm Eldan Law, where she was an equity partner. Prior to Eldan Law, she practised in the construction and international arbitration teams at Pinsent Masons and Clyde & Co as an associate. She has acted for Korean, North American and European contractors and/or owners in high-value adjudications and arbitrations arising out of projects in Southeast Asia.

At Addleshaw Goddard, Er is set to lead the Korea Business Group, which aligns with the firm’s focus on re-establishing its presence in the Korean market. Korea has been showing increased engagement with the Lion City recently as the country emerged as the top user of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre last year.

“Our Singapore office lawyers work on energy and infrastructure project disputes in Latin America, Europe, South Asia, Singapore and Southeast Asia. Danna’s hire is consistent with what we do and our continued growth strategy will remain focusing on hires who bring with them international practices,” said Kumarasinghe.

With the addition of Er, the number of partners in Addleshaw Goddard’s Singapore office is now five.
