Introduction
Mahesh Agarwal is the founder and managing partner of Agarwal Law Associates (ALA), a distinguished full-service law firm headquartered in New Delhi, India. Coming from a family with a rich legal heritage, he is a third-generation lawyer. His father is among the most senior advocates on record at the Supreme Court of India, with more than five decades of experience.
Agarwal himself has been practising law for more than 30 years, primarily before the Supreme Court of India, and is recognised as one of the country’s leading legal practitioners. His academic journey includes a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, followed by a law degree from Government Law College, Mumbai.

He is a seasoned counsel for high-profile clients across sectors such as telecommunications, mining and infrastructure. In the field of arbitration, Agarwal has represented clients in significant cases, including a high-stakes arbitration for Future Group against Amazon at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and Manipal Group in its arbitration proceedings against Byju’s, along with related proceedings in various Indian forums. He is highly skilled in handling arbitration-related matters such as interim measures, setting aside arbitral awards, enforcement proceedings and the appointment of arbitrators.
Throughout his career, Agarwal has contributed to landmark judgments, including significant cases under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code as well as the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.
