Introduction

Abhimanyu Bhattacharya is a partner in the capital markets team at Khaitan & Co, based in Mumbai. He advises on a wide range of capital markets transactions which include initial public offerings (IPOs); qualified institutional placements; InvITs/REITs; rights issues; GDRs/ADRs; issuance and restructuring of FCCBs; and the issuance of high-yield notes. 

Bhattacharya has advised on recent IPOs by Bajaj Housing Finance, FirstCry.com and Aadhar Housing. He also advised on the IPO One97 Communications (Paytm), one of the largest IPOs by an Indian company.  

Bhattacharya has advised on IPOs by Vedant Fashions (Manyavar), Aditya Birla Sunlife Asset Management, Sterling & Wilson Solar, Bandhan Bank, HDFC Asset Management, SBI Life Insurance Company, Metropolis Healthcare, GIC Re, Eris Lifesciences and Mahindra Logistics. As well as the institutional placement programme by InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo) and qualified institutional placements by Bajaj Finance, among others.  

He has been recognised as a leading lawyer for capital markets in India by Chambers and Partners; Lexology Index (Who’s Who Legal); IFLR 1000 and the Legal 500. He was selected by Business Today for its “Top 10 Capital Markets Equity Lawyers Shaping India’s Financial Landscape in 2023”.
