Laurence Lieberman

Introduction

For more than 25 years, Laurence has conducted court litigation and international arbitration for international clients, with a deep specialisation in technology, including fintech, IT, crypto and telecoms, and life sciences, including pharmaceutical and biotech. 

He has held India leadership roles and represented India’s most iconic companies in their international disputes, and European and American expansion, and guided foreign companies on inward investment into India.    

Laurence joined Pillsbury in November 2024 to – among other roles – grow the firm’s India practice. 

Representative Experience 

• Successfully defending India’s largest pharmaceutical company in a multi-million-dollar ICC arbitration concerning the extraction of opiates from poppy straw. 
• Representing a transatlantic cryptocurrency business in numerous contentious matters, and obtaining ICC awards and court judgments to recover cryptocurrency with total claim values of more than $100m. 
• Advising Ola on the setup of its entire UK ride sharing business, across 15 cities and London. 
• Acting for a Canadian pharmaceutical company in a $400m ICC arbitration with an Indian pharmaceutical company relating to a joint venture for the sale of a generic version of a cancer treatment drug.
