Deng Zhe

Introduction

Deng Zhe, a senior partner at Guantao Law Firm, serves as the deputy director of the Shanghai Lawyers Mediation Committee, the coach of the Shanghai Lawyers Debate Team, “Yixin for Public” expert with the Shanghai Procuratorate, EMBA media director at Fudan, part-time law tutor at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and entrepreneurship adviser at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law. He is also among the first batch of mediators at North Bund ADR Centre and judge at Hubei Provincial Copyright Administration University Debate Competition.

Due to his exceptional skills and experience, Deng excels in litigation and arbitration, corporate commercial affairs, financing and M&A. He advises top clients like Tencent, Xiaomi, China Resources, Ping An, Cinda, Sinolink, Yoozoo, EMP, and has excelled in resolving major, difficult and complex disputes. The team’s win rate (especially the probability of a case being remanded for retrial and a comeback from defeat) exceeds industry norms, and many of his cases have been rated as reference cases of the Supreme People’s Court, award cases and annual cases.

Due to his stellar professional record and reputation, Deng won The Shanghai Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers, was the 2018 champion of Super Speaker, and has been listed among The Legal 500 Recommended Lawyers in the fields of dispute resolution, intellectual property and TMT in the Asia-Pacific region.

He has also been honoured in the A-List of Commercial Law Legal Elite and has received the Shanghai Lawyer Industry Contribution Award and has been champion of East China Lawyer Debate Competition. Deng has also been champion of Six Provinces Lawyer Debate Competition, champion of Shanghai Public Prosecutor and Lawyer Prosecution Contest and the best debater, and has won the Shanghai Judges Association and Shanghai Lawyers Association “Building Legal Professionals Exchange Platform” Moot Court Outstanding Style Award.

Deng has a profound academic background. He has published books such as Scientific and Logical Methods in Legal Thinking and Legal Logic Case Course. He has edited white papers and industry guidelines of Shanghai Lawyers Association, such as Research Report on the Status Quo of Major Mediation Forms in China and Guidelines on Business Process Norms for Lawyers Handling Commercial Litigation. In the East China Lawyers Forum and Shanghai Lawyers Academic Competition and other industry skills competition, he has won the “agent word” category, “non-litigation legal documents” category and the “paper and research project report” category of professional awards.
