Introduction
Patricia Bunye is the managing partner of Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia and heads its mining and natural resources department, and the energy practice group. She is also a partner in its IP department.
Her IP practice focuses on trademarks and IP commercialisation, including licensing and franchising, and regulatory issues with the Food and Drug Administration.
She was the president of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), a global organisation advancing IP business, from 2016 to 2017, becoming the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to hold this position. In 2020, she received the LESI’s Award of Achievement, conferred on members with lasting contributions to the LESI and the licensing profession.
She has spoken in many countries and contributed to many publications on IP licensing in the Philippines, including the Philippines chapter of International Licensing and Technology Transfer: Practice and the Law.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the chairman of the governance committee of the Makati Business Club.
