Introduction

Maria Christina Macasaet-Acaban is a partner and a member of the management committee of Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International. She heads the corporate and commercial/M&A practice group and the healthcare and life sciences industry group in Quisumbing Torres. She is a partner in the competition focus group and the technology industry group.

Macasaet-Acaban has 25 years of experience in advising and representing multinational corporations on local and cross-border transactions. Her practice focuses on M&A, foreign investments and structuring, corporate reorganisations and restructuring, antitrust and competition, and regulatory compliance for a range of industries including healthcare and life sciences, technology media and telecommunications, consumer goods and retail, and manufacturing.

Macasaet-Acaban is recognised as a leading figure in corporate and M&A. She is in the 2025 Hall of Fame for Corporate M&A of Legal 500 Asia Pacific after having been a consistent Leading Individual in this field from 2019 to 2024. She is recognised as a Distinguished Practitioner by asialaw from 2020 to 2024 and a Highly Regarded Lawyer by IFLR1000 from 2019 to 2024. She has been named a Future Leader in Competition by Who’s Who Legal from 2020 to 2023. Macasaet-Acaban earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law, graduating cum laude and ranking third in her class.
