Introduction
Patricia Bunye heads Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia’s mining and natural resources department, and energy practice group, and is also a partner in its IP department. Her IP practice is focused on trademarks and IP commercialisation, including licensing and franchising and regulatory issues with the Food and Drug Administration.
She was the president of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), a worldwide professional organisation advancing the business of IP globally, from 2016 to 2017, and was the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to hold this position. In 2020, she received the LESI’s Award of Achievement, which is conferred on the LESI members who have made lasting contributions to LESI and the licensing profession.
She has spoken in many countries and written in many publications on IP licensing in the Philippines, including the Philippines chapter of International Licensing and Technology Transfer: Practice and the Law.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the chairman of the governance committee of the Makati Business Club.
