Dara ACUSAR

Introduction

Dara C Acusar, LLM, CPA is a senior partner of DivinaLaw, overseeing its Cebu office for the past 12 years.

Admitted to practice law in the Philippines and in New York, Acusar has extensive experience in corporate law, corporate litigation, M&A, real estate, estate planning and crisis communication.

Consistently excelling, Acusar graduated at the top of her class as valedictorian in both her juris doctor from the Ateneo de Manila University and her BS Accountancy degree from the University of San Carlos, Cebu, as well as graduating at the top of the undergraduate university. She placed 2nd in the 1999 Philippine bar exams and 6th in the 1994 CPA licensure exams.

Acusar then went on to earn her master oflaws, concentrating in corporate and international economic law, from New York University as a global hauser scholar. She practiced as a finance lawyer in New York for several years.

Upon returning to the Philippines, Acusar also worked in various capacities in the government sector, serving as undersecretary at the Department of Budget and Management and consultant to Cebu’s Vice-Governor. Her prior government experience includes serving as assistant secretary to the chief presidential legal counsel, legal assistant to the Congressional Committee on appropriations, and consultant to the Cebu City Mayor.

In 2019, she received the “Mayor’s Special Award for Outstanding Individual” in recognition of her contributions to Cebu City’s growth.
