Introduction
Karen Ocampo is a partner at Ocampo & Suralvo Law Offices, where she co-leads the tax law practice and heads the data privacy practice.
With extensive experience in tax law, including senior roles at top-tier professional service firms in the Philippines and abroad, Ocampo handles both tax advisory and tax advocacy. She counsels clients on domestic and cross-border taxation and holds a proven track record of successfully guiding clients through high-stakes tax audits. Under her leadership, the firm’s tax team has been recognised by the Asia Business Law Journal as a top tax practice in the Philippines since 2020.
As a privacy law practitioner, she provides expert advice on comprehensive data privacy compliance, including privacy management programme formulation and implementation, data breach management and response, cross-border data transfer assessments, privacy compliance audits, and privacy impact assessments. She holds the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Beyond her core specialisations, Ocampo is actively involved in corporate and commercial matters, including corporate reorganisations, M&A, contract review and due diligence engagements.
Ocampo obtained her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of the Philippines.
