Introduction

Dara C Acusar, LLM, CPA, is a senior partner of DivinaLaw, overseeing its Cebu office for the past 13 years.

Admitted to practice law in the Philippines and in New York, Acusar has extensive experience in corporate law, corporate litigation, M&A, real estate, estate planning, and crisis communication.

Consistently excelling, Dara graduated at the top of her class as valedictorian in both her Juris Doctor from Ateneo de Manila University and her BS Accountancy degree from the University of San Carlos, Cebu. She placed second in the 1999 Philippine bar exams and sixth in the 1994 CPA licensure exams.

Acusar then earned her Master of Laws, concentrating in corporate and international economic law, from New York University as a Global Hauser Scholar. She practised as a finance lawyer in New York for several years.

On returning to the Philippines, Acusar also worked in various capacities in the government sector, serving as an undersecretary at the Department of Budget and Management and a consultant to Cebu’s vice governor. Her prior government experience includes serving as an assistant secretary to the chief presidential legal counsel, a legal assistant to the Congressional Committee on Appropriations, and a consultant to the Cebu City mayor.

In 2019, she received the “Mayor’s Special Award for Outstanding Individual” in recognition of her contributions to Cebu City’s growth.
