Global firm Dentons has hired Dominic Gregory in Hong Kong to bolster its capabilities in project finance and project development in Asia.

“The decision to bring Dominic Gregory on board as a partner reflects Dentons’ strategic commitment to strengthening our capabilities in key practice areas across Asia, particularly in project finance, energy, infrastructure and sustainable finance,” Keith Brandt, Hong Kong managing partner at Dentons, told Asia Business Law Journal.

He said this hire was part of the firm’s plan to expand its offerings in sectors such as finance, which was critical to economic development and energy transition, areas where the firm saw increasing demand from both global and regional clients.

Gregory previously served as a partner at K&L Gates, joining the firm’s Tokyo office in 2023 after his four-year tenure as a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in London. Prior to this, he held several roles, including an eight-year stint as a partner at Ashurst and three years as a partner at White & Case.

His practice focuses on project finance and project development, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and mining sectors. He also has extensive experience in asset, trade and acquisition finance, green and sustainable finance, and restructurings.

With more than two decades of experience, Gregory has advised both global and regional clients on high-value, cross-border transactions, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region and other international markets.

Gregory would play a key role in expanding Dentons’ regional capabilities in project finance and development, with a focus on the energy, infrastructure and mining sectors in Asia, said Brandt.

His role would also involve supporting Dentons’ Japanese client initiatives, given his long experience of living in Tokyo and working with Japanese clients, added Brandt.
