Insan Budi MAULANA

Introduction

Insan Budi Maulana is a prominent legal figure in Indonesia with extensive experience in IP, dispute resolution, and corporate law. He is also a professor of law who teaches at universities in Indonesia and frequently speaks at national and international seminars.

Maulana earned his law degree from Universitas Indonesia in 1986 and began his legal career at a reputable law firm in Jakarta. Building on years of professional experience, he established Maulana and Partners Law Firm in 2011. The firm is known for its strong focus on IP, corporate law, and dispute resolution, serving a wide range of domestic and international clients with a commitment to excellence and integrity.

In the 1990s, the Japanese government awarded him a scholarship to conduct research at Kagawa University. Later, he received his master of maws degree from Kobe University in 1992 and his doctorate from the same university in 1999. His commitment to the legal field resulted in various scholarships from Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany, to continue his research on intellectual property and antitrust law.

Throughout his career, Maulana has authored 26 books and more than 90 articles on various legal topics, focusing on IP and competition law. As an IP and competition law expert, he regularly shares his expertise through meetings and seminars with the Indonesian Parliament, government, and national and international companies. Additionally, he was part of the expert on several amendments to Indonesia’s IP law.

Maulana is an active member and significantly contributes to the legal community through his involvement with organisations such as AIPPI, APAA, and IPBA. He is also the founder of Indonesian Intellectual Property Society (IIPS), Foundation of IP Studies in Indonesia (FIPSI), IP Clinic Foundation, and Japan Indonesia Lawyers Association (JILA).

Maulana’s dedication to the legal field—especially developing IP in Indonesia—has earned him national and international recognition. He was named a Leading Individual in Intellectual Property Practice in Indonesia by Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Asia Business Law Journal as one of Indonesia’s Top 100 Lawyers.
