Introduction
Robson Lee has been a partner in Kennedys Law and also a director of Legal Solutions LLC with the Singapore joint law venture, Kennedys Legal Solutions, since January 2023.
Lee has more than 30 years of experience in advising local and international clients on global M&A, capital market transactions, corporate governance, and securities regulatory compliance requirements.
In addition to his core areas of practice, Lee is a veteran senior lawyer in the area of shareholders’ and board disputes. He is also widely acknowledged as the “lawyer to go to” whenever there are enforcement actions by the Singapore market regulators for breach of market rules and securities regulations.
In recent years, Lee has advised many clients in setting up family offices in Singapore. He is effectively bilingual and bicultural, in both English and Chinese. From 2017 to 2020, he was the chairman of the holding corporate entity encompassing Singapore’s premier educational institutions, Hwa Chong Institution and Hwa Chong International School.
Lee was a senior equity partner in a century-old local firm, Shook Lin & Bok, before he joined Gibson Dunn & Crutcher as a global equity partner from 2015 to 2022. In Shook Lin & Bok, he was an equity partner in the joint law venture between Allen & Overy and Shook Lin & Bok, from 2000 to 2008.
Lee is the assistant secretary of the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) (SIAS) and head of legal affairs at SIAS.
He is also chairman of the audit committee of the Law Society of Singapore.
Lee has been recommended by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific in the categories of Singapore: Capital markets, and Corporate and M&A. Lee has also been named a leading lawyer in M&A by Best Lawyers Singapore for 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Lee received his LLB (Hons, 2nd Class Upper) from the National University of Singapore in 1993. He is an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, and a solicitor in England and Wales.
