Cedric Xu

Introduction

Cedric Xu is a partner at Tian Yuan Law Firm and is considered a leading lawyer of the new generation in China’s M&A field. He has successfully provided legal services for dozens of domestic enterprises in M&A, having particular expertise in complex transactions involving listed companies.

Xu is also a pre-eminent expert in the field of corporate control contest, having provided legal services for more than a dozen A-share listed companies in control contests, takeovers and counter-takeovers.

In 2021, Xu participated in the “Ping An Life’s Participation in the Bankruptcy Reorganisation Project of Peking University Founder”, which was acknowledged as an Outstanding Transaction by China Business Law Journal. In 2022, he participated in the “Restructuring of the Board of Directors of SG Auto”, another project honoured as an Outstanding Transaction by China Business Law Journal. In 2023, his work on the “Change of Control of Red Star Macalline” was similarly recognised as an Outstanding Transaction by China Business Law Journal.

Xu’s outstanding performance has garnered widespread recognition. In 2024, he was named “M&A Lawyer of the Year” by the China Mergers & Acquisitions Association, “Rising Star” in Corporate/M&A by Asialaw Profiles, and among “The A-List Elite: Growth Drivers” by China Business Law Journal.
