Introduction

Wu Dong studied at the Northwestern University (US) School of Law from 2007 to 2008 and obtained an LLM degree. He is now a master tutor of East China University of Political Science and Law.

Wu has successively held positions as a member of the Company Law Committee of the All China Lawyers Association, deputy director of the Company Law Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, and a member of the Shanghai Stock System and Securities Research Council. He is currently an arbitrator of Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, an arbitrator of the Shanghai, Guangzhou and Nanjing arbitration commissions, and an arbitrator of the Zhuhai and Dalian courts of international arbitration.

He also serves as an independent director for two publicly listed companies: TianYu Eco-Enviroment; and Urban Architecture.

Wu has more than 30 years of experience as a practising lawyer. He has provided professional legal services to many well-known enterprises in their investments, acquisitions, joint ventures and operations, including: COMAC; China Eastern Airlines; China Great Wall Asset Management; CITIC Group; Founder Group; Uni-President; Want Want Group; Shanghai Whitecat Group; Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals; Bright Food Group; The Paper; Chinese Tennis Association; and DADA Group. These clients highly praise Wu for his professional expertise and dedication.

On behalf of the Shanghai Bar Association, Wu participated in seminars on the legislation and revision of the Company Law, Insurance Law, Anti-Monopoly Law, and Partnership Enterprise Law, which were organised by the National People’s Congress and the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council.

Wu has also delivered hundreds of lectures and training sessions on the Company Law for various organisations including: All China Lawyers Association; Shanghai Bar Association; Sichuan Lawyers Association; Shandong Lawyers Association; Gansu Lawyers Association; INTELLIGEAST; China Business Law Journal; EVERPRO; L-Council; GIC; China Securities Regulatory Commission; East China University of Political Science and Law; Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance; Shanghai United Media Group; The National Innovation Centre par Excellence; Sinopec; and Xuwei Port Holdings Group.

In 2018, Wu was listed in the 2018 Talent Pool of Foreign-Related Lawyers in Shanghai. In 2021 and 2023, Wu was ranked among the “Top 15 Transaction Lawyers” and “Top 15 M&A Lawyers” by LEGALBAND. In 2020, Wu was awarded the “Deals of the Year” by CBLJ for his work on China Eastern Airlines’ issuance of a KRW300 billion (USD209.5 million) bond project. For consecutive years, Wu was one of the awarded lawyers in Corporate/M&A in Greater China by Chambers and Partners, and in the Asia-Pacific by The Legal 500. For consecutive years, Wu was awarded the “Annual Awards: China M&A Lawyer of the Year” by Global Law Experts, and the “Top Ranked Lawyers” in Corporate/M&A by LEGALBAND.
