Introduction
Rene Yang is the managing partner of SGLA (Guangzhou) Law Firm.
She graduated from Zhejiang University and Sun Yat-sen University. She started her practice in mainland China in 1999 and has been registered with the Hong Kong Law Society as a foreign lawyer since 2007. From June 2004 to June 2005, she participated in the UK’s Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Young Chinese Lawyers, during which she worked briefly at Hogan Lovells’ London and Hong Kong offices, as well as at Brick Court Chambers (Middle Temple Inn, London).
Yang’s legal service focuses on domestic or cross-border investment, financing, infrastructure development and related dispute resolution for high-profile state-owned enterprises, listed companies and multinational corporations.
She also acts as an independent director for several listed companies and holds various social or professional positions such as director of the Guangdong Belt and Road Legal Services Research Center, deputy director of the Ministry of Justice’s Guangzhou Center of the Belt and Road Lawyers Alliance, executive council member of the Guangdong Western Returned Scholars Association, and vice president of the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong.
During her more than 20 years of practice, Yang has received numerous honours, including being named one of Guangzhou’s top 10 young lawyers as well as the city’s top 10 lawyers for cross-border legal service.
