Introduction
Qi is a seasoned corporate lawyer with an entrepreneurial spirit. In his more than 30 years of practice, Li has transformed from a rising banking lawyer in Shanghai to a legal IPO pioneer in China, from an established cross-border M&A lawyer to a trusted legal adviser in US-China transactions. He regularly represents Fortune 500 companies investing in China and has been the lead lawyer in dozens of landmark deals involving the automobile, hospitality, life insurance, manufacturing, ports, online retail, and other industries. He counsels companies on corporate governance and compliance for their China operations.
In the past decade, Li has focused on advising entrepreneurs and corporations from China to invest and operate in the US, covering education, medical devices, logistics and technology.
Early in his career, Li acted as lead counsel in more than 200 IPOs and bond offerings in Shanghai, New York, Hong Kong, London and other leading markets. Many of these were first of their kind or were the largest IPO, either in the history of that stock exchange or of the year globally.
Li has been consistently ranked as a leading corporate, capital markets or M&A lawyer for more than two decades. He was a key founding member of a “Red Circle” law firm based in Shanghai, and was named as one of the “Ten Best Lawyers in China” by the Ministry of Justice for being a pioneer in China’s capital markets and Shanghai’s legal community.
