Waseem Pangarkar

Introduction

Waseem Ismail Pangarkar, a first-generation lawyer, has built a stellar career in dispute resolution, international arbitration, litigation and white-collar crime practice. He joined MZM Legal as an intern in 2010, and worked relentlessly to become one of its youngest senior partners, heading the firm’s dispute resolution and commercial litigation practice.

An accomplished law graduate from Mumbai University, Pangarkar’s academic excellence is complemented by certifications in international commercial arbitration from Columbia Law School and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as well as in IP rights from the World Intellectual Property Organization. He serves as a delegate of the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Arbitration and ADR, and is an accredited dispute resolution professional.

Known for simplifying complex disputes, Pangarkar has spearheaded high-value international arbitrations, often handling cases involving multinational corporations and sovereign states. His expertise spans cross-border disputes, corruption, fraud, extradition, money laundering, and restructuring and insolvency. He provides strategic counsel in Corporate Insolvency Resolution Processes (CIRP) and liquidation proceedings. He has represented Fortune 100, Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies, unicorn startups and ultra-high-net-worth individuals in some of the most challenging and landmark legal battles.

Pangarkar collaborates closely with MZM Legal’s managing partner, Zulfiquar Memon, to elevate the firm into one of India’s top legal practices. In 2021, he co-founded a forensic investigation business, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in handling corporate fraud and regulatory compliance. He has also been instrumental in establishing a sports law practice, reflecting his passion for advancing this niche legal field.

Driven by a deep commitment to social justice, Pangarkar founded Chambers for Justice (CFJ) to provide marginalised communities with access to legal support. He envisions expanding CFJ nationally and globally, ensuring dignity and fairness for all.
